Who Needs Therapists? Just Have Kids!

Remember that show that Bill Cosby used to host, "Kids say the Darndest Things?" Seriously, they really do! If I could just bottle up my little one's funny sayings and stories up and pull them out of when someone is having a bad day I could make a killing. I love it because kids don't even know that what they are saying is hilarious, (until the roar of laughter) they are just speaking what's on their mind...with absolutely no filter.

A little background info before I share my silly little story with you. My (almost 3, OMG I cant' believe that) son is potty trained except for naps and overnight. The following story let's me know that he's actually listening to me while I ramble on about what we're trying to do at nighttime....wow, who knew!

While on vacation last week we headed out to dinner and this is what was overheard....

Me- "Hey, let's work on opposites."

Little Man- "Ok!"

Me- "What's hard?"

Little Man- "Table!"

Me- "What's soft?"

Little Man- "This!" As he gestures to the padding on the booth

Me- "What's wet?"

Little Man- "Water!"

Me- "What's dry?"

Little Man- "Pull- Ups!!!"

Enter fits of laughter from Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie and myself!

Well, my little man ate that up like a bowl of candy and it's now his new favorite joke. So if you see a little kid at a store asking you "What's dry?" You better answer pull-ups so he can give you the cheesiest smile, longest, silliest, made-up laugh ever. Just like he is right over there which is completely unrelated but it would look quite a bit like that minus the frosting!

Let me know what your kids have said lately that has cracked you up. Feel free to comment or write your own post with a link back. Happy ICLW!

As a native Californian would say,"It's HELLA hot!"

Hi all!

We're down visiting family in my home state of California and sweating like no other! I'm a native Californian but have lived the last 7 years up in the cool, rainy Oregon and I'm like a fish out of water here. You know what California has that we don't have up in Oregon? Way too many people!!! On the roads, in the stores, restaurants....It's way too overpopulated for me!!!! On the plus side, I'm going to indulge myself and go eat at In N Out this week so that makes the heat and crowds worth it. All in all we're having a great time but I wanted to check in and let you know that next week my blog should be back up and running normal. Internet is slow here and I can't upload pictures like I'm able to do at home. Hope you're all having a great week!

Want a healthier choice?

While shopping last week a new product caught my eye and I couldn't resist... Oroweat Sandwich Thins. Apparently some areas have had the product under the brand Arnold but it is relatively new to us west coasters under the brand name Oroweat. Can I just tell you that I absolutely love them! They come in two different flavors, 100% whole wheat and a 100% whole grain. They are thinner than bread, but still softer than a pita bread and can be used in a wide variety of meal ideas. The best part is they are only 100 calories for the whole bun. You heard me right....the WHOLE thing. An average slice of bread ranges anywhere from 90-110 calories for one slice so it almost seems like a no brainer to go for the sandwich thins. They are also low fat and have no high fructose corn syrup and dangit, they just taste good! I used mine as hamburger bun and I even made the hubby eat it and he had no complaints.(Which means it's a keeper in my house.) I've also heard of others using it to make mini-pizzas, sandwiches, cutting it in strips to use in a dip, and as a substitute for toast with jam in the morning. The possibilities are truly endless. I'm pretty excited with this find because all too often healthy food doesn't taste too yummy and this product breaks the mold. Kudos to Oroweat!

Getting to know you, Getting to know all about you!

I was reading Sandy's blog and came across this questionnaire and thought it would be fun to fill out for those that don't know me I(n)R(eal)L(ife).

1.What is the weather like where you are? kinda cool, cloudy.

2.Who was your first best friend? Her name is Nickie and thanks to facebook we've found each other again.

3.Who knows you best? Absolutely my hubby. He knows me better than I do sometimes.

4.Do you have a temper? Nope.

5.Have you ever flew in an airplane? Yeppers. Two times across the states and many short trips to California. By the time your up at full altitude it's time to descend. Easy trips.

6.Have you ever been on a cruise? Unfortunately not. My hubby and I are dying to take an Alaskan Cruise though.

7.Have you ever rode on a train? Uhh, yes. 12 hours, I departed at 3am and I was exhausted by the time we got there. FYI...it only takes 3 1/2 in a car but as a poor college student I didn't have a car and the only way to make my way home was a train. Never again.

8.Where is the farthest you've been from home? Orlando, Florida.

9.Do you plan to move in the next 12 months? Sadly, yes. We're moving up to the great white north to the suburbs of Vancouver, Canada. 10.What are your parents names? Greg and Karin

12. Can you swim? yes. I've also taught swim lessons and coached competitive swim teams. Swimming was my life for about 12 years.

13. Name one thing you like about yourself. The ability to be comfortable in my own skin. Many women struggle with body image and while I know that I'm far from what society labels as perfect but to me, I am comfortable with who I am and what I look like.

14. Name one thing you DO NOT like about yourself. How I can sometimes stress about the dumbest things.

15.Who is the last person you talked to on the phone? My hubby

16.What time did you wake up today? 7:30

17.What is your favorite animal? As a kid and all the way through college I wanted a pet dairy cow. Which is kinda funny cause I'm a city girl and where would I ever put an animal that big. One of my college roommates majored in Ag so I was able to get my cow fix and visit the farm with her. Baby Cows = Adorable

18 Where did you go today? Haircuts, Lane Bryant for some retail therapy for a really short haircut, Chipotle and then where else, Target

20. What is the worst sound to hear? nails on a chalkboard

25.Who is the last person you called? the hubster.

26Are you happy or sad today? Happy :)

31.Did you graduate high school? I sure hope so, my momma would have kicked my booty if I didn't

32. Can you sing? A big fat NO!

33. Can you dance? I've got some rhythm. I'm pretty good at what I like to call "ghetto booty" dancing. I was a wild child back in my college days :)

34.Can you play an instrument?I use to play the violin but I would never think of trying it now unless I wanted my ears to bleed.

35.Have you ever been in the newspaper? My mug shot...just kidding. I've had some sporting accomplishments published along with some articles on my volunteer work with Special Olympics.

36. Have you ever been on TV? Nope.

37.Have you ever wrote a book? Uh, not that I can recall.

38.What type(s) of music do you like? Mostly country but I'm into the hip/hop R&B thing too.

39.What month were you born? February.

Blog Hop

There is a new link system out there called MckLinky and they're doing weekly blog hops to share their product and to allow readers to connect and easily link to other blogs. This weeks blog hop theme is your favorite picture with a caption.

My favorite pic is from last summer and it's of my hubby and our little guy. We were out fishing, boating and goofing off at the lake down in California at my mom's house. While he was playing in the dirt, he wiped his eyes and it left some residue. He had that rugged, outdoor, boy look that he so rarely shows off since he can be kind of a neat freak and I just had to capture that moment.

Not Me! Monday

It's Monday again and with that brings "Not Me!" Mondays! Our beloved MckMama unveiled a new logo for us to proclaim to the bloggy world how perfect we really are.

I did not spend an hour trying to figure out why my home phone line wasn't working. I did not unplug, plug, rearrange countless wires, push god only knows how many buttons and then try to figure out how to put them all back correctly. I was convinced it was their system, the man on the other end of the line was not! Let's just say, I am not absolutely and thoroughly enjoying my new fancy phone since I went and purchased one at Target. Nope, not me! (sorry Mr. comcast guy I concede, you were right)

I was not entirely convinced that practicing bowling on my Wii would actually make me a better bowler. One trip to the "real" bowling alley, a few gutter balls later and my hopes were squashed! Nope, not me!

I do not "forget" to defrost meat on hot days so that my hubby will be "forced" to take me out to dinner and I will be spared the wrath of the hot kitchen. That would be shameful and make me such a bad housewife. I would never, ever do that.

(Table for 3 at Chilis, please!)

I did not discover that in my old age ( heck, we all know I'm approaching 30 soon) that I've become kind of accident prone although I occasionally show some aspect of my dwindling athleticism.

I did not trip on a pair of toddler shoes and almost eat it only to shoulder check the door jam like a hockey player, and ricochet towards the couch to land in the soft pile of pillowy goodness. Sore shoulder, but I still have my teeth unlike a "real" hockey player.

I also did not totally miss the WET FLOOR cone at Safeway and proceed to use their aisle as a slip and slide. Luckily for me, I never lost hold of the cart and managed to "right" myself, but unlucky for my shin that now has a bruise the size of Texas from hitting the bottom bar of the cart.

Me, accident prone, NEVER!
